Our Journey in Mobility and Transport Consultation

Dr Johanna Tzanidaki holds a PhD in EU Law from the Universities of Southampton and Cambridge (UK), and an LLM from Leiden Law School, NL. She also holds an MA and an MPhil from the UK Universities of Bristol and Cambridge (UK) respectively, as well as professional qualifications in Project Management (PRINCE2), in CSR (Harvard Business School) and in Social Accountability (SAI).  With extensive experience in EU Affairs and Policy, she has previously worked for the TomTom Group as Director of Public Affairs (6,5 years) and ERTICO - ITS Europe as Director of Innovation and Deployment and Chief Innovation Officer (CINO), a position she held for 6,5 years. 

She launched and has co-Chaired the ERTICO Innovation Platform TM 2.0 on Interactive Traffic Management since 2014. Johanna has been extensively involved in the TISA ITS Directive WG and the EU EIP-TISA work on the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) -related EU Commission Delegated Regulations. She has participated in the workings of the C-ITS Platform - the Single Platform for CCAM and has served (until March 2024) as elected co-leader of Cluster 4 (integration of CCAM in the transport system) at the CCAM Association (PPP) which runs under the auspices of the European Commission. She was appointed a member of the US Transport Research Board (TRB, US Academy of Sciences) ITS Committee in April 2022 and is very active in European and International Forums in the field of ITS and Traffic Management. 

Dr Tzanidaki founded AYA Consulting in 2022 in order to offer her insights, expertise and services to organisations who wish to use business models that cater for the needs of both the private and public sectors. She believes in safe, accessible, equitable and efficient mobility that caters for the needs of all users but also addresses the strategic priorities of public authorities such as less traffic and more sustainability. She collaborates with a team of highly regarded experts in the field of Smart Mobility and ITS, and she brings into her work a widespread, professional network as well as extensive experience in the field of ITS.
